Aliyu, Wamakko, Sultan, Others Join Muslims for Eid-el-Fitr Prayers in Sokoto

Thousands of Muslim faithful from all walks of life on Friday morning converged at the Sokoto Central Eid Prayer Ground to observe the two-rak’ah prayers marking the end of this year’s Ramadan fast.

The prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Sheikh Malami Bello Akwara.

In his sermon shortly after the congregational prayers, the Chief Imam admonished the Muslim Ummah to fear Allah and to be just and fair in their dealings with one another.

He further reminded them to shun excessive materialism and attachment to worldly life, stressing the need for Muslims to dedicate themselves to the worship of Almighty Allah in order to earn His mercy and forgiveness in the hereafter.

The cleric also urged Muslims to love one another and avoid any actions capable of causing disunity and hatred within the Ummah.

The event witnessed a massive turnout of worshippers who gathered in unity from across the state to offer prayers and seek Allah’s blessings.

The Eid-el-Fitr prayers were attended by several dignitaries across the state, including the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu; the Deputy Governor, Idris Mohammed Gobir; APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar; the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Goronyo; and the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga and former Deputy Governor Sokoto State Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.

Others in attendance included the Deputy Speaker, Kabir Ibrahim Kware; Member representing Bodinga, Dange-Shuni and Tureta Federal Constituency, Hon. Nasiru Shehu; Member representing Sokoto North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Bala Hassan; as well as members of the State Legislature.

Also present were the State Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa; the Sokoto State Grand Khadi, Shuaibu Sodangi Achida; State APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya; the House Leader, Bello Idris; the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa; Chief of Staff, Government House Sokoto, Aminu Haliru Dikko; commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, and other top government functionaries.

The Eid-el-Fitr celebration, which marks the end of the Ramadan fast, was observed with great devotion, reflecting the spirit of faith, gratitude, and unity among Muslims. The Muslim Ummah is hereby wished a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
