A Federal Government delegation, led by the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Mustapha Shettima, visited Sokoto to commiserate with the Shagari family following the passing of the late Hajiya Sutura Aliyu Usman Shagari, the last surviving wife of former President Shehu Shagari.
The visit was a profound gesture of national solidarity and respect for the Shagari family, who have played a pivotal role in the history and development of Sokoto State and Nigeria.
On behalf of the Government and people of Sokoto State, His Excellency Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokotoexpressed sincere appreciation for the compassion and unity shown by the Vice President and the Federal Government delegation.
He prayed that Allah, in His boundless mercy, forgives the departed, grants her peaceful repose, and admits her into Aljannah Firdaus.
The visit further highlighted the spirit of national cohesion and empathy, as leaders come together to support families during times of bereavement.
