ICT Hybridizing SOCHEMA In Sokoto State

During the 2024 digital tour at the 21st Century Entrepreneurs Hub, the Ministry team, led by Commissioner Hon Bashar Umar Kwabo, convened with the Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (SOCHEMA) Marketing Team in the 21st-century meeting room. The discussion focused on leveraging emerging technologies to improve healthcare service accessibility from the agency, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the poor, children, elderly, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

The marketing team, spearheaded by Hadiza Bello and recently launched by the organization, aims to engage stakeholders in the state and facilitate the enrollment of vulnerable individuals in the scheme. This initiative aligns with Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu’s 9-point Agenda, dedicated to enhancing healthcare access for all citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status or physical capabilities.

Commissioner Kwabo commended the team’s efforts also recommended establishing a comprehensive database as an initial step. This database should accurately identify gaps, individuals in need of support, and strategies to actively involve them in the scheme, thereby enhancing healthcare access.

Additionally, he pledged full support and proposed collaboration with development partners like the African Development Bank (AfDB) to leverage available funding and assistance for the initiative, as registration for the scheme also necessitates fees.

The Commissioner advocates for a formal partnership between MIDE and SOCHEMA to enhance healthcare service delivery in Sokoto State.

The meeting was attended by ministry officials and the SOCHEMA Marketing Team.
