
The Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, has described the ongoing polio immunization across the State “a hitch free” exercise. The said that in Gwadabawa Local Government Area, commending health workers and stakeholders for their commitment towards the success of the activities.
Hon. Kwabo made the remark following the monitoring of the March 2026 polio immunization campaign in the area. The Commissioner was represented during the exercise by the Director ICT of the Ministry, Malam Murtala Nuhu, who carried out the assignment on his behalf.
The monitoring exercise followed the directive of the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, mandating members of the State Executive Council and Special Advisers to participate in the supervision and monitoring of the statewide immunization campaign across the 23 Local Government Areas.
During the inspections across wards in Gwadabawa Local Government Area, the Director ICT monitored vaccination teams and interacted with health officials, representatives of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other key stakeholders supporting the implementation of the immunization campaign.
Reports from the field indicated that vaccination teams carried out their duties effectively, while community members cooperated fully with the health personnel and development partners, contributing to the smooth and successful conduct of the exercise.
Commenting on the outcome, Hon. Kwabo stated that “the immunization exercise in Gwadabawa Local Government Area was conducted smoothly and successfully, reflecting the dedication of health workers, the support of partners such as the United Nations Children’s Fund and the World Health Organization, as well as the cooperation of the community.”
He also commended the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for its sustained commitment to strengthening the health sector and other key sectors aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people of the state.
