Project Inspection: Sokoto Governor Hosts Minister of Works

The Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, FNCS, hosted the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for a project inspection visit in the state. The projects inspected include the Sokoto-Zamfara-Zaria road and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway.

The 750km Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road is undergoing a major upgrade to a dual-lane rigid concrete pavement, enhancing durability and reducing maintenance costs. This project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to improve transportation efficiency, facilitate trade, enhance agricultural productivity, and create employment opportunities.

Under Governor Aliyu’s administration, Sokoto State has witnessed rapid infrastructure development, with 40 township roads completed and commissioned, while an additional 10 are nearing completion. These efforts highlight the state’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure and promoting economic growth.

Governor Aliyu expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Works for their steadfast support and collaboration in delivering these critical projects. He emphasized that such partnerships are crucial in transforming Sokoto into a commercial hub and a beacon of progress and development.

Accompanying the minister was the Minister of State for Works, Barr. Bello Muhammad Goronyo and other key officials.
