SAFI Digital Centre Graduation: SOSG Pledges More Support.

The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy Sokoto (MIDE), led by Hon. Commissioner Bashar Umar Kwabo, through its ICT Directorate (ICTD), has recently attended the graduation ceremony for the computer studies students at the Sultan Abdullahi Fodio Institute (SAFI) Digital Center, Sokoto.

The event included a keynote lecture on “Digital Citizenship and Ethics: Rights and Responsibilities of Online Communities,” delivered by Muhammad Bello Umar MCPN, MNCS, CNSS, Managing Director of MBU Digital Service Center. His presentation focused on the ethical use of technology, emphasizing the critical responsibilities of individuals in the digital age.

Representing the Ministry, Muhammad Abubakar, Head of Digital Media and Communications (DMC), alongside Buhari Mai Akwai, Head of Partnership, Innovation, and Creativity (PIC), extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates. Mr. Abubakar encouraged the students to apply their newly acquired skills in practical settings and offered advice on marketing their abilities through pitching and volunteering.

He also announced upcoming training programs aimed at enhancing digital literacy across Sokoto State. This initiative, which includes Foundational, Intermediate, and advanced levels, is designed to cater to all categories of Sokoto residents. It is part of the Ministry’s broader strategy, under the administration of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto PhD, FCNA, to foster innovation and digital skills across the state.

Professor Aminu Alhaji Ibrahim of Usman Danfodio University, co-founder of the center, commended the organizers for their dedication to youth empowerment and highlighted the curriculum’s balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, which he identified as essential for success in today’s rapidly evolving digital environment.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the students, marking the successful completion of their training program.
