The Commissioner, Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy Sokoto (MIDE), Honorable Bashar Umar Kwabo, has generously donated the sum of N500,000.00 to the Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Qur’an and General Studies (SMMIQGS). As a former student and a member of the 2007 chapter of the Old Boys Association, the contribution demonstrates his commitment to supporting the renovation of the school’s facilities, including hostels, toilets, classrooms, and other essential infrastructure.
The cash donation was made through the Alumni Foundation, which was presented by the Hon. Bashar to the association’s executives. During the presentation, Mr Kwabo highlighted that “this contribution is my way of giving back to the institution that significantly shaped my life”. He acknowledged that while the donation may be modest, it is part of a broader effort to address the school’s urgent needs.
He also encouraged fellow alumni and other members of the community to contribute in any way they can to support the school’s needs. He expressed his gratitude to the association for their dedication to this important cause.
Malami Abdullahi, the Secretary General who represented the Chairman of the association, expressed gratitude and commended the Commissioner’s efforts. He prayed God Almighty to continue to guide and protect him towards continued success.
The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy and members of the Old Boys Association.
