Sokoto Government to spend N.5bn on Malnutrition
During Saturday’s ongoing ministerial briefing, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, the Health Commissioner, revealed that the Sokoto State Government (SOSG) has collaborated with USAID to acquire 500 million Naira worth of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) supplements to address malnutrition in children. Additionally, she announced the reintroduction of concessions on knee, spinal, and hip replacement surgeries at Orthopedic Hospital Wamakko.
Commissioner Asabe highlighted the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of depleted healthcare facilities, alongside the free distribution of medicine across the state. In response to inquiries about maternal kits provision, she assured that the government would provide adequate supplies by year-end to ensure safe deliveries for women. She also mentioned that the Sokoto First Lady Hajiya, Her Excellency, Fatima Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto recently distributed free maternity kits (Mama kits) at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital in Sokoto.
She commended Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto PhD FCNA for his unwavering support of healthcare delivery initiatives in the state. The ministerial briefing is a joint coordination by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Information and Orientation. The aim of which is to evaluate performances of MDAs in the State as directed by Governor Aliyu of Sokoto State.
