Sokoto Governor Constitutes Committee to Investigate Kara Market Fire Outbreak

The Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, FNCS, has constituted a high powered committee to investigate the recent fire outbreak at Kara Market in Sokoto State. The committee members are as follows:

1. Hon. Dalhatu Sidi Mamman Asarakkawa
   (CHAIRMAN)
2. Hon. Bello Idris Gwadabawa
   (MEMBER)
3. Prof. Musa Garba Maitasfir
   (MEMBER)
4. Col. Garba Moyi Isa (Rtd)
   (MEMBER)
5. Hon. Ibrahim Hassan Chichi
   (MEMBER)
6. Representative of the Police from Headquarters
   (MEMBER)
7. Mohammed Hayatudeen Tsamiya (MEMBER /SECRETARY)

The committee has been tasked with the following terms of reference:

1. To investigate the causes of the fire outbreak.
2. To ascertain the number of traders involved and the losses recorded by each of the affected traders.
3. To proffer solutions on how to avoid future occurrences of such incidents.
4. To recommend possible assistance to be provided to the affected traders.
5. To submit the committee’s report within three weeks.

This development was disclosed in a press release signed by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa.
