Sokoto Governor Empowers 40 Women-Farmers with Cash, Grains, and Equipment.

During the ministerial briefing for MDAs in Sokoto State, Alhaji Hayatu Alhaji, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Women and Children Affairs, representing Honorable Commissioner, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmad Shagari, highlighted key achievements of the ministry under the one-year administration of Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto PhD FCNA.

In his remarks, he highlighted several initiatives, including empowering forty women-Farmers with with solar pumping machines for dry season farming, grains and N500,000 cash grant to enhance agricultural productivity and financial independence.

Significant efforts were also noted during Ramadan to support vulnerable women and children. Additionally, the ministry collaborated with the NEEM Foundation to facilitate the training of two hundred adolescent girls in skill acquisition, equipping them with practical skills for personal growth.

Moreover, the ministry successfully re-enrolled 1,500 out-of-school children through a partnership with UNICEF, ensuring they received necessary educational materials. Addressing gender-based violence, specialized training was provided to twenty-three (23) women coordinators from Local Government Areas to empower them in effectively tackling community issues.

These initiatives highlight the ministry’s commitment to empowering women and improving child welfare across Sokoto State under the leadership of Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto PhD FCNA.

The briefing was jointly organized by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Information and Orientation to assess the performance of MDAs in Sokoto State.
