The Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, participated in the 8th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) 2025, a high-level forum connecting Nigerian states with global investors and diaspora partners. The Summit, organised by NiDCOM in collaboration with the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), was held at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Governor Aliyu was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE), Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, who engaged with investors, development institutions, and diaspora business leaders.
The Summit aimed to strengthen Nigeria’s engagement with the diaspora as a key source of investment, providing a platform to showcase opportunities, facilitate business matchmaking, and connect investors with government and partners. Its vision is to promote a diaspora-driven economy and highlight the diaspora’s role as a vital source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Sokoto State has implemented initiatives to create a conducive business environment, including tax incentives, streamlined land acquisition, investor-friendly policies, and ease of doing business reforms, reflecting its commitment to economic diversification, expanding investment opportunities, and positioning the State as a competitive destination for sustainable, innovation-driven growth.
The forum was attended by prominent government officials, including Dr. Henry Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development; Hon. Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation; Hon. Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, Minister of Steel Development; and Hon. Sunday Akin Dare, Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation to the President, who joined global investors and diaspora leaders in exploring investment opportunities across Nigeria’s states.
