Sokoto Governor Reinstates Nawawi as State Auditor General
Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, the Governor of Sokoto State, has reinstated Sambo Yahaya Nawawi as the State Auditor General. This announcement follows a court ruling overturning a prior judgment.
It could be recalled that Mr Nawawi was wrongly retired from service on 18 August 2016. In May 2018, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria reversed the retirement and ordered for his reinstatement as Auditor General of Sokoto State.
According to the Governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, the reinstatement takes immediate effect. Therefore, with this court compliance and subsequent reinstatement by Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, Sambo Nawawi’s correct retirement date is Friday 18 October 2024.
