The Sokoto State Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto PhD FCNA has sworn in the newly elected local government chairmen, urging them to prioritize security within their jurisdictions. During the ceremony, Governor Aliyu warned against inaccessibility and negligence, emphasizing the need for chairmen to be accessible to their constituents.
“Local government chairmen neglecting their duties will face strict consequences,” he cautioned.
He urged the chairmen to hold regular meetings with security agencies in their areas to address rising security challenges, a key component of his administration’s 9-point Agenda. The Governor also emphasized the importance of enhancing internally generated revenue and adhering to the Code of Conduct Laws.
Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development Ibrahim Dadi Adare announced plans for an induction course to help the chairmen better understand their roles.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the APC Leader in Sokoto State Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Deputy Governor of Sokoto State Idris Muhammad Gobir, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Hon. Kabir Ibrahim Kware.
Other attendees included former Deputy Governors Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo and Mukhtar Shehu Shagari Esq, former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State Hassan Nasiha, Secretary to the Sokoto State Government Muhammad Bello Sifawa, and Chief of Staff Government House Sokoto Aminu Haliru Dikko mni.
Additionally, the Galadiman Gari Aliyu Attahiru representing the Sultan was present along with commissioners, special advisers, and other dignitaries from national and state assemblies.
