The visit aimed to strengthen and explore potential areas of collaboration on youth empowerment in both the digital and green economy sectors.
BTNL is a waste management company dedicated to converting organic and plastic waste into biogas, organic fertilizer, and eco-friendly building materials, thereby promoting a circular economy and environmental sustainability.
During the visit, the CEO/MD of BTNL, Mr. Ibukun Taiwo, highlighted the company’s innovative waste-to-resource conversion technologies, emphasizing its focus on promoting a circular economy. He explained how the company’s operations could support Sokoto State’s environmental and economic development goals.
Also speaking, the Head of Sustainability and Innovation, Ms. Rita, expressed BTNL’s interest in partnering with the Ministry on capacity-building initiatives in smart farming, renewable energy, waste data digitization, and the establishment of mini factories for waste conversion. She emphasized that these initiatives are designed to equip Sokoto youths with practical skills, create employment opportunities, and promote sustainable livelihoods.
While responding, the Commissioner, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, commended BTNL’s innovative approach and assured the company of the Ministry’s readiness to support programmes that advance youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
