Sokoto MIDE Retreat: Reviews 2024 Performance, Unveils 2025 Work Plan. …………Applauds Governor Aliyu
The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) held its annual retreat at the Caliphate Tech Hub in Sokoto State, where it reviewed its 2024 activities and unveiled the strategic work plan for 2025. The event focused on staff assessment and Ministry’s performance evaluation.
The retreat commenced with a goodwill message from the Commissioner, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo. In his remarks, he emphasized the retreat’s importance in setting the direction for the year 2025.
Mr. Kwabo additionally expressed satisfaction with the staff’s enthusiasm after the work plan presentations by various heads of departments and units. He stressed the need for tangible results, stating, “This year is the year of action. We need results, not just words,” and urged staff to respect the line of authority and avoid insubordination.
The Commissioner further described the retreat as the first of its kind in the State under the current administration, one that should be adopted by all MDAs in the state to foster reflection, performance evaluation, and capacity building.
Earlier, in his keynote address, Dr. Nasir Daniya, the Permanent Secretary and Chief Accounting Officer of the Ministry, provided a comprehensive review of the Ministry’s 2024 activities. He discussed the Ministry’s budget, financial performance, and manpower challenges, while outlining the strategic priorities for 2025. Dr. Daniya also emphasized the need for a strong work ethic and called on staff to shun laziness in order to effectively achieve the Ministry’s goals for the year.
Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, FNCS, was commended for his steadfast support, particularly through asserting political will on all the activities of the Ministry, which have been vital to sustaining the Ministry’s operations.
The retreat concluded with the presentation of excellence awards to staff, based on a poll conducted by the Ministry. All staff voted for the nominees. Dr. Daniya was voted as the ‘Exceptional Performing Staff for 2024’, while Muhammad Abubakar, Head of Digital Media and Communications from the ICT Directorate, was similarly voted as the ‘Outstanding Head of Unit for 2024’.
The event was attended by the leadership and management staff of the Ministry and the ICT Directorate.
