The Sokoto State Government (SOSG), represented by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) led by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Daniya, PhD, FNCS, participated in the IPv6-Driven Digital Infrastructure Summit on August 20, 2024. The event took place at the Communications & Digital Economy Complex in Abuja.
The summit was hosted by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with the Nigeria Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Council. It brought together government regulators, industry leaders, enterprises, and academia to discuss global IP industry trends and innovations.
The welcome address was delivered by NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE. This was followed by addresses from the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo. Latif Ladid, President of the IPv6 Forum, then presented on “Global IPv6 Trend and Net5.5G Target Architecture”.
Other noteworthy presentations included Dr. Chris Uwaje’s insights on Nigeria’s IPv6 strategy and Mukom Tamon’s overview of Africa’s IPv6 development. Quying Zhen also provided an update on the Net 5.5G protocol progress.
Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is poised to embrace and adopt initiatives by the Federal Government and other multinational corporations that aimed at developing the ICT and Digital Economic sphere, especially as it affects Sokoto State’s development.
The summit highlighted IPv6’s crucial role in advancing Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and fostering future growth opportunities.
