The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, Sokoto, recently welcomed the founder of Food is Medicine Ltd., Usman Ibrahim Shehu, as he presented his prestigious FG SMSE Award for Excellence in Agriculture. The award, received at the National MSME Awards, recognizes Shehu’s contributions through FIMTEA, a brand dedicated to innovative tea production and packaging, and his impact on job creation within the agricultural sector.
During the presentation, the Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy Honorable Bashar Umar Kwabo commended Shehu’s entrepreneurial success and assured him of the ministry’s ongoing support. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to promoting FIMTEA’s products on broader platforms, helping to enhance Sokoto’s growing business environment nationally and internationally.
The FG SMSE Award was initially presented to Shehu at the Presidential Villa as part of the Federal Government’s National MSME Clinics Program. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Nasir Daniya, PhD FNCS, along with Directors and Heads of Unit from MIDE and the ICT Directorate.
