The Sokoto State Government (SOSG) has approved the procurement of modern waste disposal equipment to improve sanitation services and promote a cleaner environment across the state.
The approval was granted during the fifth State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House Council Chamber and was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Sambo Bello Danchadi, during a press briefing.
According to the Commissioner, the intervention includes the purchase of nine waste disposal trucks, waste bins, safety kits, and other sanitation tools aimed at enhancing operational efficiency in refuse collection and environmental management.
He noted that the initiative is part of the government’s broader urban renewal agenda and its commitment to safeguarding public health through sustainable environmental practices.
Hon. Danchadi added that the equipment will support the daily activities of sanitation workers and ensure timely evacuation of waste, particularly in high-density areas and major towns.
The move is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s efforts in promoting hygiene, preventing environmental hazards, and ensuring a healthier living environment for all residents.
