
The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) has presented its 2025 Third Quarter Performance Report to the Sokoto State House of Assembly Committee on Digital Economy/Science and Technology.
The session, held at the Assembly Complex and chaired by Hon. Awaisu M. Aliyu, provided an opportunity for the Ministry to present updates on funds released, utilization, achievements, challenges, and future projections.
Leading the Ministry’s delegation, the Hon. Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, appreciated the committee for its continued support and assured members that the Ministry remains committed to transparency and accountability in all its operations.
He emphasized that engagements of this nature strengthen coordination and promote effective implementation of government programs. The Commissioner further highlighted the Ministry’s vision to enhance digital capacity building and innovation across the state, particularly in advancing e-Government initiatives. He also sought the committee’s support for the Ministry’s mission to provide job opportunities and lift young people out of poverty through technology-driven programs.
In their remark, members of the committee commended the Ministry for its progress and alignment with Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s vision of promoting innovation and digital transformation in the state. The committee also shared observations and recommendations to strengthen performance and assured the Ministry that it will ensure adequate budgetary provisions in the coming year to support the implementation of key programs and initiatives.
The review session was attended by the Director of Administration, Sada Ibrahim Sokoto; Director Digital Economy, Literacy, Capacity Building and Innovation, Dr Abdulaziz Shehu, Director of ICT, Murtala Nuhu; Director of e-Government and Regulations, Suleiman Almustapha; Deputy Director of Finance, Kabir Garba; and the Ministry’s Internal Auditor, Jafar Shehu.
Others from the Sokoto Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (SICTDA) included the Head of External Projects and Interventions, Faruk Attahiru Jabo; Head of Gadgets and Hardware Infrastructure, Isah Abdullahi; Head of Digital Media and Communications, Muhammad Abubakar; Head of Partnership, Innovation and Creativity, Buhari Mai Akwai; and the Technical Assistant, Imrana Abubakar S. Fulani.
The session ended with a joint commitment to sustain collaboration between the Ministry and the Committee towards advancing Sokoto State’s digital agenda.
