Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has approved the early payment of June 2025 salaries to enable workers in the state to adequately prepare for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The payment, which will commence on Monday, June 2, 2025, will cover all categories of public servants, including state and local government workers, staff of the Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), and pensioners across the state.
This effort, now the third of its kind under the current administration, is aimed at supporting workers during the festive season and ensuring they are able to meet traditional obligations such as the purchase of sacrificial animals and other essential needs.
Governor Aliyu, who is currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia performing the Hajj pilgrimage, reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers. He also called on civil servants to reciprocate the government’s gesture with greater dedication, punctuality, and productivity.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” the Governor stated. “Since our assumption of office, we have prioritized the welfare of workers through regular salary payments, restoration of monthly allocations to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), provision of festive support packages, and the clearance of outstanding gratuities and pensions for retirees.”
Furthermore, he emphasized that revitalizing the civil service remains a central pillar of his administration’s broader agenda to enhance governance and deliver quality public services across all sectors.
Governor Aliyu extended his warmest wishes to the people of Sokoto State for a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to every part of the state.
The information was contained in a press release issued by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa.
