Sokoto Govt to Renovate District Head’s Palaces

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has announced that his administration will soon commence the renovation of district heads’ palaces across the state.

The governor made this known while receiving His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, during the Sallah homage at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto.

Governor Aliyu stated that the initiative is aimed at ensuring that district heads, who are the closest traditional authorities to the grassroots, have befitting accommodation to enable them discharge their responsibilities effectively.

“We are not unaware of the dilapidated condition of many district heads’ palaces in the state. Very soon, we will commence their renovation, beginning with the palace of the District Head of Wurno,” the governor said.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Sultanate Council to address critical challenges affecting rural communities, particularly insecurity.

Governor Aliyu further reaffirmed his resolve to sustain infrastructural development and urban renewal initiatives currently being implemented across the state.

He reassured the people of the state of his administration’s open-door policy and urged residents to freely offer suggestions and constructive advice that will help move the state forward.

The governor also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their continued support and cooperation.

Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, commended Governor Aliyu for executing various people-oriented projects across the state.

He assured the governor of the Sultanate Council’s unwavering support for his administration’s transformative initiatives, including infrastructural development, feeding programmes and empowerment schemes.

“We are very proud of our governor, and we are 100 percent in support of what he is doing for the state,” the Sultan said.

“No amount of mischief can separate us. People should always fear God in whatever they say or post on social media,” he warned.

The Sultan further disclosed that the Sultanate Council would soon convene a meeting with district heads to explore ways of complementing the state government’s efforts in addressing security challenges.

He also called for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in assisting the state government to achieve its vision of a better Sokoto State.

The information was contained in a press release issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa.
