The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) received courtesy visits from the Nigerian yPostal Service (NIPOST), Sokoto Office, and the Sokoto State Youth Assembly to strengthen collaboration on digital transformation, youth empowerment, and improved service delivery.
During the NIPOST visit, Mr. Henry Ayuba Baba, Head of NIPOST Sokoto Office, led the delegation to the Ministry. He explained that the visit aimed to explore partnership opportunities with MIDE, promote patronage of NIPOST services, and enhance its role in the state’s emerging digital transformation initiatives. He noted that NIPOST operates under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, making collaboration with the state ministry a natural fit given their shared alignment and mandate.
Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to collaboration, encouraged NIPOST to prepare a formal presentation of its services, and assured support for initiatives that improve service delivery and promote digital solutions.
In a separate engagement, the Ministry received the Sokoto State Youth Assembly, led by Speaker Ahmad Zayyanu Jelani. The Leader of the House, Umar Kabir, highlighted potential areas of collaboration, including digital initiatives, bridging the gap between youth and government, and a proposed “Sokoto Innovate 1.0” program to showcase young innovators’ solutions.
The Commissioner commended the Assembly’s proactive approach, described youth as the backbone of society, and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to empowering them through technology and innovation. He assured the Assembly that their proposals would be carefully reviewed and explored for partnership opportunities.
Both visits were attended by senior Ministry officials, including Director of Administration, Sada Ibrahim Sokoto; Director of ICT, Murtala Nuhu; Director of e-Government and Regulations, Suleiman Almustapha; Deputy Director of Finance, Kabir Garba; and other stakeholders from MIDE and SICTDA.
