The Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has approved the recruitment of qualified indigenes into the state civil service as part of efforts to reduce unemployment and address youth restiveness in the state. The decision is also aimed at tackling challenges linked to rising insecurity and the growing issue of “informants’ syndrome.”
To ensure due process, Governor Aliyu constituted a committee to oversee the recruitment exercise. The committee members are as follows:

- Alh. Muhammad Bello Nagwari (MEMBER)

- Dr. Faruk A. Wurno, Hon. Commissioner, Health (MEMBER)
- Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission (MEMBER)
- Permanent Secretary, Local Governments Service Commission (MEMBER)
- Barr. Gandi Umar Mohammad, mni (MEMBER/SECRETARY)
According to a statement issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Abubakar Bawa, the committee’s terms of reference include developing criteria for selecting qualified candidates to fill existing vacancies in the state MDAs, collating and examining applications, and shortlisting eligible candidates.
Furthermore, It is also tasked with conducting interviews and assessments to determine suitability, recommending qualified candidates for recruitment, and submitting a comprehensive report within one month from the date of its appointment.
