Sokoto Excels in Japan at ACAITD AI, ORGATEC Events in Tokyo 2025

The Sokoto State Government, through the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, sponsored a delegation including qualified techprepreneurs to Tokyo, Japan. The delegation attended key global events focused on cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Web3, digital transformation, and the evolution of smart, flexible work environments.

Leading the delegation was Deputy Governor Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir, alongside the Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo. Together with Sokoto’s techpreneurs. A state indigenous establishment, which has been part of facilitators of the conference, the Caliphate Startup Technology Foundation, under the leadership of its President, Mustapha Bello and were also part of the delegation.

The team participated at the 2nd Tokyo International Conference on AI New Technologies (ACAITD 2025) and the ORGATEC Tokyo 2025, one of Asia-Pacific’s premier trade fairs for modern workspaces and digital infrastructure. The mission was to expose startups to global innovation practices and enhance their contributions to Sokoto’s digital economy.

This initiative reflects Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu’s administration’s commitment to advancing digital innovation, empowering local talent, and positioning Sokoto as a competitive player in the global technology landscape.

The event, held under the theme “BORDERLESS – Office, My Way,” saw the active participation of over 160 international exhibitors showcasing how technology and design are reshaping the future of workspaces.

Through such international engagements, Sokoto State continues to strengthen its standing as a rising hub in the global innovation ecosystem, dedicated to nurturing local talent and driving digital progress.

It could be recalled that Governor ‘Amadu’ led the enactment of law that established the Sokoto Information Technology Development Agency (SICTDA) in the state and recently established the State Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies to help the Ministry drive the digital transformation in the State.
