SOSG-AGILE Distributes Cash Support to 41 Thousand Beneficiaries.

The First Lady of Sokoto State, Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Aliyu, has officially launched the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Program under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project. The program will provide financial support to 41,825 beneficiaries across the state, with the goal of strengthening girl-child education and reducing school dropouts.

In her remarks, the First Lady described the initiative as a major step toward empowering families to keep their daughters in school. She urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly in order to ensure long-term impact on their children’s education.

Speaking at the event, the National Project Coordinator, Mrs. Amina Buba Harina, reaffirmed AGILE’s threefold focus on education, skills acquisition, and empowerment. She emphasized that successful delivery of the program requires both timeliness and accountability to guarantee value for money.

Earlier, the Sokoto State Project Coordinator, Dr. Mansur Isah Buhari, expressed appreciation to Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu for his unwavering support. He explained that within the first year of implementation, AGILE has already made notable progress by renovating classrooms and providing learning materials across Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in the state.

The Conditional Cash Transfer is a key component of the AGILE project, designed to provide direct financial incentives to households, encouraging them to keep girls in school and secure a better future for them.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, education stakeholders, and community members, who all commended the initiative as a timely and strategic investment in Sokoto’s future.

The information was obtained from a press statement issued by the State AGILE Coordinator, Dr. Mansur Isah Buhari.
