
The Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining its urban renewal initiatives aimed at realising his vision of a new and modern Sokoto State.
The Governor stated this while hosting youths to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto.
He said the urban renewal programme, which commenced two years ago, would continue to receive priority attention from his administration in order to achieve the dream of a better Sokoto State.
“Our urban renewal initiatives are so visible that even members of the opposition are benefiting from them,” the Governor said.
“Once you leave your house to any part of the metropolis, you must pass through one of our projects or the other,” he added.
Governor Aliyu further disclosed that since its inception, his administration has been training youths and women in various skills to make them productive and self-reliant members of society.
He called on young people to pursue both Islamic and Western education to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
“Every society needs the contributions of its youths to move forward, and this can only be possible when they are educated and productive,” he emphasised.
The Governor also reiterated his administration’s resolve to fulfil its campaign promise of supporting youths and women interested in getting married, noting that the pledge remains in force.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. Mustafa Muhammad Kofar Rini, commended Governor Aliyu for the numerous youth-focused programmes introduced by his administration.
He added that in the area of sports, the state’s contingents had performed impressively in various competitions, winning medals including bronze, attributing the achievements to the Governor’s support and cooperation.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Matters, Kamaludden Abubakar, praised the Governor for appointing youths into various political and non-political positions, assuring him of their continued support.
He noted that youths in the state had unanimously resolved to purchase nomination forms for the Governor ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of women, the Women Leader of Sarkin Adar Kofar Atiku, Hajaru Abdullahi Baba, expressed appreciation to the Governor for hosting the Iftar, describing it as a demonstration of his love and care for youths across the state.
The event was attended by the State APC Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida; Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa; Chief of Staff, Government House Sokoto, Aminu Haliru Dikko, mni; member representing Dange Shuni at the State House of Assembly, Sirajo Muhammad Shuni; and the Commissioner for Digital Economy, Bashar Ummarun Kwabo.
Others included the Chairmen of Sokoto North and Wurno Local Governments, Jamilu Umar Gosta and Abba Isa Saddiq Achida, local government secretaries, special advisers and other government functionaries.
