Sokoto Governor Applauded for Proactivity on FG Initiatives

The Governor of Sokoto State has been applauded for ensuring adequate participation and representation during Federal Government activities across the country.

It has been acknowledged that Sokoto State has been one of the most active states when it comes to participating in development-related activities organized by the Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. This observation was made by various stakeholders during the International Conference on Biotechnology, held at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

One of the leaders of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) maintained that “only Sokoto State sent a delegation that consists of a Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, and other officials.” She added, “That shows how committed your people are when it comes to promoting biotechnology in Nigeria. I am sure you have networked enough to implement strategies to improve biotechnology in your state.”

In his closing remarks after the conference, the Director-General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, implored participants to stay committed to leveraging biotechnology as a force for positive change. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the knowledge shared and networks built during the conference continue to yield long-term benefits.

“I would like to express my profound appreciation to all the distinguished speakers, scientists, scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and delegates who have contributed their expertise, insights, and passion to make ICoB24 a resounding success. Your active participation and commitment to advancing the frontiers of biotechnology and driving sustainable economic growth through innovation are commendable.”

The CEO further stated that “as we reflect on the discussions and knowledge gained at ICoB24, let us embody the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and excellence that has defined our time together. Let us ensure the insights shared reach a broader audience and are translated into tangible advancements in the biotechnology sector. It is our collective responsibility to continually push the boundaries of what is possible, challenge assumptions, and embrace change as we work together to create a prosperous future for generations to come.”

The Sokoto State Government earlier made a resounding presentation through the Commissioner of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, Honourable Bashar Umar Kwabo. In his speech, which was on behalf of the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto FCNA, ‘Amadu’ as popularly called, assured his “readiness to partner with the Federal Government, especially the NBRDA, and any other credible institution from the public and private sectors to develop biotechnology in Sokoto State.”

The event started on July 15 and closed on July 19, 2024.
