The Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Kabir Ibrahim Kware, has commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, FNCS for executing numerous developmental projects without seeking loans from any financial institutions.
Kware made the remarks while leading members of the legislature on a Sallah homage to the Governor. He stated, “There has never been a time you approached us with a request to borrow money from any financial institution, whether at home or abroad.” He further emphasized that this approach is commendable, given the numerous people-oriented projects the Governor is implementing across the state.
On behalf of the State Judiciary, the Sokoto State Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa, also commended the Governor for constructing additional courtrooms at the State High Court. He expressed satisfaction with the Governor’s responsiveness to judicial matters, noting that it reflects a strong and cooperative relationship between the three arms of government.
In his response, Governor Aliyu stressed the need for greater synergy among the three tiers of government to enhance the state’s development. He reaffirmed the executive’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the people in line with his campaign promises.
Furthermore he urged lawmakers to present the needs of their constituencies for prompt and diligent implementation. He assured them, “My doors are always open to you at any time to listen to the demands of your people.” He also reminded them to set aside political differences and collaborate with the executive for the state’s progress and equitable development.
Turning to the Judiciary, Aliyu called on Judges and Khadis to expedite justice delivery to help decongest correctional centers. “It is worrisome to see inmates languishing in correctional centers for minor offenses under the guise of awaiting trial,” he said.
The Governor also highlighted the recent appointment of seven additional Judges and seven Khadis, a first in the history of Sokoto State. “This is to strengthen the Judiciary and accelerate the dispensation of justice,” he added. He reassured judicial officers of his administration’s commitment to their welfare.
