Gov. Aliyu Renovates 10,000-Capacity Mosque in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has commissioned the renovated Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Mosque in Kofar Kware, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to religious infrastructure development.

The mosque, one of Sokoto State’s largest with capacity for over 10,000 worshippers, underwent extensive structural upgrades and facility modernization while preserving its historical significance.

In his remarks, Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to promoting religious values and social harmony. “All these are part of efforts to redeem our campaign promises of promoting Islamic affairs in the state,” he stated.

The special guest of honour and Minister of Labor and Employment, Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, who officially commissioned the project, described the renovation as reflecting the administration’s dedication to spiritual and public welfare.

Furthermore, Commissioner for Religious Affairs Hon. Jabir Sani Mai Hula commended the governor’s investment in religious development, highlighting numerous mosque construction and renovation projects completed across the state. He thanked the administration for its ongoing support to religious leaders and scholars.

The commissioning was attended by high-profile individuals, including the representative of the Sultan, Sambo Wali Junaidu (Wazirin Sokoto), serving senators and members of the National Assembly. Also present were former Deputy Governors, Barr. Mukhtari Shehu Shagari and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Bala Tukur Bodinga, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bello Sifawa, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Aminu Dikko, members of the State Executive Council, members of the State Assembly, and a large turnout from the general public.
