
The Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD FCNA, represented by the Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE), Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, officially declared the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream I NYSC orientation exercise open at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko, Sokoto State.
The three-week orientation course is designed to equip corps members with essential skills and values for their service year.
In his address, Governor Aliyu congratulated the corps members and emphasized the importance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity and promoting social development. He described the scheme as “vital in building a just and egalitarian society.”
He urged the corps members to focus on their personal and professional growth while embracing NYSC’s core values of integrity, patriotism, discipline, selflessness, reliability, fairness, and teamwork.
A highlight of the event was a tug-of-war competition, where the women’s team emerged victorious. The Governor affectionately described the women’s team as “his team” and awarded them ₦500,000. The men’s team, as runners-up, received ₦200,000.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the representative of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh. Muhammad Jabbi Kilgori, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Usman Yakubu Yaro, the representative of the State Chief Judge, Hajiya Aisha Bunza, Esq., the representative of the Wamakko Local Government Chairman, and other stakeholders.
