Sokoto Will Lead Digital-Economic Innovations Agenda in Nigeria-Gov Aliyu

The Governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto pledged to transform Sokoto State into Digital Ecosystem that will be an envy to other States in Nigeria.

The Governor spoke through the Commissioner of Innovation and Digital Economy in the State. Honourable Bashar Umaru Kwabo, asserts that the current administration will deliver. His Excellency the Governor of Sokoto promised to provide all the needed support, cooperation as political will to ensure the transformation of the Digital Ecosystem of the state to international standards.

He appreciates the wisdom of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s appointment of Dr Bosun Tijani as the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. Hon. Bashir maintains that the Minister is young, vibrant and imminently qualified to drive implementation of the Nigeria’s digital-economic agenda and the National Digital Economic Policy and Strategy (2020-2030).

He urged the Minister and indeed the Federal Government to give special attention to Sokoto State, being one of the few states in Nigeria that has the right framework and readiness, also domesticated the name of the Federal Ministry, so as to synch with the FG’s agenda, and equally adopt global best practices.

The statements were conveyed during the step-down Ministerial briefing with the leadership of the Sokoto ICT Directorate, which took place at the VIP Resource Center at Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, Sokoto.

The Commissioner use the opportunity and invites on local, national and international tech community and other strategic stakeholders in ICT to come to Sokoto to explore enermous potentials available around the digital ecosystem. While assuring the staff of the Ministry of the Governor’s readiness to provide all that is required to enable the Ministry prosper, he equally warned that no employees would be allowed to act “business as usual”. “I expect total commitment from all of you, which is essential element that is needed for us to deliver our statutory mandates effectively”, he says.

In his earlier remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Nasir Daniya, expressed his appreciation to the Commissioner for his enthusiasm and dedication to work from his inauguration to date. “We have had several leadership in this Ministry before, but yours came with an extra vibe, I promise you we would provide all the guidance, support and cooperation for you to succeed”.

The briefing was done in form of engaging presentations by all the Heads of Units from the ICT Directorate to the new leadership of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE).
