Governor Aliyu Remodeled 47 Township Roads, Constructing 500 Houses in Sokoto
During today’s session of the ministerial briefing, the State Commissioner for Land and Housing, Barrister Nasir Aliyu Dantsoho, provided an overview of the ministry’s achievements, challenges, and future plans under Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s PhD, FCNA administration over the past year.
Dantsoho highlighted the construction of 47 township roads in Sokoto, covering areas such as Gawon Nama, Runjin Sambo, Low-Cost, Sahara, Remen Kura, and others. He also addressed concerns about halted projects from the previous administration, noting ongoing negotiations with contractors. Additionally, Dantsoho mentioned the rehabilitation of potholes across state roads.
Achievements in the housing sector were also discussed, including the procurement of 136 housing units by the state government from the federal government. Additionally, ongoing construction of 500 additional housing units in Kalambaina, Wamakko Local Government area, was highlighted. Future plans include the construction of parking lots for trucks and vehicles to regulate traffic and prevent congestion.
Dantsoho further addressed land allocation issues, stating that allocations not following due process will be revoked while those that did will be upheld. He also mentioned new measures implemented by the ministry to assess farmland converted to residential land before development to prevent flooding and other disasters.
The ministerial briefing sessions, co-hosted by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Information and Orientation, aim to provide updates on government policies, initiatives, and projects to the public, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability in governance.
