Governor Aliyu to Re-establish Hisbah in Sokoto State.

As the ministerial briefing for MDAs in Sokoto continues, Honorable Commissioner, Ministry for Religious Affairs, Dr. Jabir Sani Mai Hula confirmed Governor Ahmad Aliyu-led administration’s readiness to establish the State Hisbah in Sokoto.

He further provided updates on the ministry’s achievements in the first year of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s administration. This was part of a jointly press briefing by the Ministry of Information and Orientation and the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy.

Sheik Jabir highlighted key projects undertaken by the ministry, including the renovation of 30 mosques, rehabilitation of the state’s largest cemetery, and the renovation of depleted formal Almajiri schools across the state. He also mentioned welfare packages for religious leaders, particularly Jumat Imams and muezzins, across the state, and the ministry’s efforts to restore ethics and morals within the community.

Additionally, the ministry has played a pivotal role in training religious leaders, particularly muezzins, to ensure the proper conduct of religious activities in the state.

Furthermore, the Commissioner announced approval granted by the Governor for issuance of monthly stipends of ₦500,000 for maintenance of each accredited Jumat prayer mosque in the state.

The Ministerial briefing is jointly anchored by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, and that of Information and Orientation in the State, with a view to assess performances of all MDAs the Sokoto State.
