INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2023: SOSG-NGWEI REVIVED HOPE FOR YOUNG WOMEN

The Sokoto State Government (SOSG) through the Ministry of Technology and Digital Economy participated in commemorating the International Women’s Day jointly with Nana Girls and Women Empowerment Initiative.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Nasir Daniya presented a paper titled ‘Advancing Women’s Economic Empowerment Through Technology in Northern Nigeria’,
And subsequently had interactive motivational sessions with the participants.

Represented by Umar Kabir Dan Anini, the delivery aligned with this year’s theme ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’, which focused on empowering young women to leverage technology and unlimited access to information to bridge the inequality gap with their male counterparts.

Umar shared various tools and techniques to guide the audience on how to enhance their hard and soft skills, whether they are students, potential business owners, or future job seekers.

It has been emphasized that technology is a tool for everyone, regardless of gender, age, or status. Currently, there is a pressing need to increase women’s representation across the segments of technology, innovation, and skills acquisition.

The Sokoto State Government pledged to continue supporting both the public and private sectors in developing technological-related initiatives and programs for the betterment of society at all levels in the state.
