MIDE-NYCN to Collaborate on Youth Engagement Initiatives in Sokoto

The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) participated in a two-day capacity-building workshop organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sokoto State Chapter, in collaboration with HIKIMA Community Mobilization and Development Initiatives (HCOMDI) in Sokoto. The workshop aimed to equip newly elected NYCN executives with essential leadership skills to enhance governance and drive impactful initiatives.

Delivering an address on behalf of Hon. Commissioner Bashar Umar Kwabo at the final session, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Nasir Daniya, who led the Ministry’s delegation, emphasized the importance of leadership rooted in transparency, accountability, and fairness. He urged the NYCN leadership to empower their members by ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to play a key role in their respective offices, thereby fostering collaboration and organizational effectiveness.

Dr. Daniya reassured the NYCN leadership of the Ministry’s ongoing advisory support and its commitment to providing innovative solutions to help achieve their objectives. He also highlighted that the Ministry’s doors remain open for consultation and collaboration.

Highlighting the state government’s commitment to youth empowerment, Nasir noted that significant funding has been allocated to MIDE’s 2025 budget for youth-centered initiatives. He emphasized that this financial commitment aligns with Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s ‘9-Points Agenda’ of empowering young people and promoting self-reliance.

NYCN Chairman Isah Abdullahi expressed gratitude to HCOMDI for organizing the workshop and commended MIDE and the Ministry of Youth and Support for their dedication to advancing youth development. He assured participants that the council’s leadership would work diligently to implement initiatives benefiting young people across Sokoto State.

The workshop was attended by delegates from both ministries and stakeholders from HCOMDI.
