
The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) has pledged to enroll participants from a recently concluded social media training program, which was organized by the Youth Progressive Forum into a two-day masterclass. This advanced training will focus on ethical social media usage and will also provide a deeper understanding of the legal framework surrounding media practices.
The just concluded two-day training, facilitated by Garkuwan Arewa at the Total ICT Center in SSCOE Sokoto, it covers key areas such as social media content creation and effective digital marketing strategies. It provides participants with practical skills to succeed in the digital economy.
The frontline speech was delivered by the sponsor of the program, Aliyu Ahmad Aliyu, he asserts that the primary purpose of the training is to open up endless opportunities available through social media. “our aim is to empower you to be on your own; be self-reliant and productive to the society”, he says. He called on them to use the knowledge acquired to improve their ability to achieve their potentials to the fullest.
While speaking at the event, Dr. Nasir Daniya, Permanent Secretary of MIDE, emphasized the importance of ethical behavior in social media usage. He cautioned participants about the legal implications of unregulated online activities, noting that social media can either elevate individuals or lead to personal downfall depending on how it is used. He encouraged participants to use social media to build strong personal reputations and professional growth.
This masterclass program reflects the vision of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, FNCS, to empower Sokoto’s youth with vital digital and technical skills for self-reliance. In line with this commitment, the state government recently launched an initiative to train 10,000 Sokoto youth in digital and technical skills, preparing them for success in the digital economy.
The event was attended by Acting Director General of ICT Directorate, Murtala Yusuf, Head of Digital Media & Communications, ICTD, Muhammad Abubakar, Technical Assistant to the Permanent Secretary, Imrana Abubakar S.Fulani, Founder of Arewa Blog, Ismail Maico, and other attendees.
