The Sokoto State Government participated in the 2025 Future Work Summit 2.0 (FWS 2.0). Represented by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Kwabo lent his expertise as a distinguished panellist at the event, which was held at Brickspoint, Asokoro, Abuja on 19 July 2025. The high-impact activity organized by the Productive Youth Network (PYN) in collaboration with Jaiz Bank Plc, PAL Pensions, and Aryan Farms Ltd, brought together policymakers, tech innovators, and youth leaders to chart a roadmap for a resilient and digitally-oriented Nigerian workforce.
Themed “Nigeria of Possibilities: Future-Ready Workforce, Youth-Driven Growth,” the program focused on building an inclusive, digitally empowered labor force, with particular attention to the role of youth in shaping Nigeria’s socio-economic trajectory.
In his contributions, Hon. Kwabo emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between governments, private sector, and academia to drive innovation and digital literacy, especially across underserved regions of the country. He highlighted Sokoto State’s ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering youth through digital training programs, tech hubs, and partnerships that promote entrepreneurship and remote work readiness.
“The future of work is already here. It is imperative that we prepare our young people not just to participate but to lead in the global digital economy,” Hon. Kwabo stated during the panel discussion.
Mr Bashar also called for deliberate policy frameworks that ensure equitable access to digital tools and skills, stressing that youth in Northern Nigeria must be strategically positioned to harness new opportunities in the evolving work landscape. He gave examples of Sokoto State Government’s establishment of Ministry of Innovation & Digital Economy, the State ICT Development Agency, establishment of the State Advisory Committee on AI and emerging Technologies etc.
The summit concluded with actionable insights on strengthening Nigeria’s digital infrastructure, upskilling the workforce, and fostering innovation ecosystems that reflect the dynamism and creativity of the country’s youth.
