SOSG-ICPC TO COLLABORATE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NATIONAL ETHICS AND INTEGRITY POLICY IN SOKOTO STATE.

As part of the efforts to integrate the National Ethics and Integrity Policy(NEIP) to achieve the 7 National Core Values (NCV), with the overall aim of fighting corruption, a high delegation from the Sokoto State Ministry of Technology and Digital Economy (MTDE) paid a courtesy visit to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) office in the State.

Intensive discussions were held between the two agencies where Sokoto State Government intends to use the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and other Technology-Digital aids to ensure adequate dissemination of the aims and objectives of the NEIP in the State, especially across the public sector.

The delegation was led by the Permanent Secretary (PS), who’s is also the Ag. Commissioner/Overseer of the MTDE, Dr Nasir Daniya. He assured the ICPC of the Tambuwal-led Administration’s commitments in playing its part towards any initiative that could develop the State and the Country in general. He added that “the Ministry will intimate the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the Head of Service (HOS) on such developments to enable them influence its domestication across the Public Service in the State”.

In his remarks, the Ag. Resident Commissioner of the ICPC in the state, Mr Mustapha Wala appreciated the SOSG’s vision in identifying the importance of the NEIP towards development of Nigeria, and promised the Agency’s total support and cooperation to achieve the targeted aims. He additionally congratulated the PS for his appointment and prayed that the new Ministry become successful.

Mr Wala presented some publications of the ICPC to the delegation also decorated the PS with the ‘SPEAK OUT AGAINST CORRUPTION’ hand tag.

“The National Ethics and Integrity Policy was developed by the ICPC Nigeria in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and the National Orientation Agency, (NOA) in response to the many damaging effects of corruption in both the public and private sectors”.-ICPC

The meeting was attended by the heads of units under the ICT Directorate: Mr Faruk Jabo, Licensing and Quality Assurance (LQA); Ilyasu Balarabe, Partnership Innovation and Creativity (PIC); Imrana Abubakar S/Fulani, Technical Assistant (TA); Buhari Mai-akwai, Internship and ICT Research (IITR), and other members of the ICPC team.
