Governor Dauda Flags Off Distribution of Tricycles, Motorcycles in Sokoto

As part of the ongoing one-year anniversary celebrations of Sokoto Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto PhD, FCNA, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State flagged off the distribution of tricycles (Napep) and motorcycles in the state. The initiative aims to enhance intra-state transportation and create job opportunities for youth self-sustainability. The event took place at Giginya Memorial Stadium.

During the event, Governor Aliyu detailed the distribution plan, which includes 500 tricycles (Napep) and 1,000 motorcycles, all subsidized for beneficiaries. This consists of 250 electric tricycles at N5.8 million each, 250 conventional tricycles at N3.6 million each, and motorcycles at N970,000 each. These vehicles will be sold to beneficiaries at approximately one-third of the procurement cost.

Governor Aliyu highlighted his administration’s commitment to poverty alleviation and youth empowerment, stating, “This gesture is one of several measures we are introducing to reduce poverty and make Sokoto’s teeming youths self-reliant.”

Governor Lawal commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s leadership and urged beneficiaries to utilize the vehicles responsibly, emphasizing the importance of supporting this administration for further developmental projects.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, former Governor Mallam Yahaya Abdulkarim, Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir, and community leaders. Other notable attendees included the Sultan of Sokoto, represented by Sa’in Kilgori Alhaji Muhammad Jabbi Kilgori, as well as members of the State House of Assembly and State Executive Council respectively.
