SOSG UNVEILS BERAP FOR 2024

The Sokoto State Government (SOSG) embarks on a transformative journey with the unveiling of its Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP) for 2024, aligning with the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Program. Endorsed and approved by the State Executive Council, BERAP delineates strategic initiatives across the state’s 18 MDAs, aiming to enhance the ease of doing business in Sokoto and foster an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth.

On December 20th, 2023, the State Executive Council duly approved the BERAP for 2024, along with the authorization for uploading the document on the State Official Website. This strategic move not only reflects the state’s dedication to economic development but also positions Sokoto as a key player in the broader national and international business arena.

SABER, a $750 million 3-year performance-based intervention program (2023–2025), is a collaborative effort led by the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, the Secretariat of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Debt Management Office (DMO), and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Secretariat, with support from the World Bank.

The SABER Program aims to stimulate the implementation of state business-enabling reforms, playing a pivotal role in facilitating BERAP, a key Eligibility Criterion for Sokoto State’s participation in the 2024 program for results. The BERAP covers Improved Land Administration and Land Investment Process, Increased Fiber Optic Network Deployment and Access to Broadband, Increased Sustainable Large-Scale Investments, and Quick Determination of Commercial Disputes.

This reflects Sokoto State’s commitment, led by Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, to create a business-friendly environment for economic growth in the state.
